Gentle Caressing is filled with movement, yet nothing in it feels aggressive. Large curving forms lean into one another, separate, and meet again, creating the sensation of repeated soft contact. The painting feels almost tactile—as though one form is brushing against another rather than simply passing beside it.

Blue is the dominant presence, moving from deep cobalt and indigo through brilliant blue, turquoise, aqua, and pale luminous blue. Violet and lavender appear within the curved gestures, while areas of soft green, yellow-green, cream, and white bring warmth and light into the cooler field. Near the lower right, muted rose and mauve introduce a quieter warmth. These colors do not sit separately; they travel within the movement of the forms.

What makes the painting especially compelling is the way the gestures seem to respond to each other. Some bend inward as another approaches. Others appear to open, cradle, or pass gently alongside neighboring forms. In the lower left, repeated curved strokes create an almost circular enclosure, while the larger movements above rise and fold across one another. There is closeness everywhere, but very little collision.

That is where the title Gentle Caressing becomes visible. A caress is movement through contact without force, and the painting seems to carry that sensation across the entire canvas. Yet what is touching what remains unresolved. The forms can suggest leaves, feathers, waves, living presences, or something the viewer alone discovers within them.
