Hidden Secrets draws the eye toward things it can sense but cannot completely identify. Large curving forms create openings throughout the painting, yet those openings never fully reveal what lies within them. The eye repeatedly approaches recognition—a presence, an enclosure, something almost familiar—only to have it absorbed again into the surrounding movement. You sense something before you can fully see it.

Deep indigo, violet, blue-black, and muted blue form the painting’s darker depths. Through them move brighter passages of cobalt and electric blue, blue-violet, lavender, and pale luminous blue. Small but striking touches of yellow, yellow-green, and gold appear within the darker areas like brief illuminations. Because these warmer colors are used sparingly, they draw attention to particular places without completely revealing them.

The movement is predominantly curved and circular. Broad strokes turn inward, move around darker spaces, cross one another, and create the impression of layers existing both in front of and behind what we can see. Near the center, lighter lavender and blue movements intersect the deeper forms, creating a shifting boundary between concealment and revelation. The painting continually gives the viewer somewhere to enter, but never a complete answer.

That tension is the power of Hidden Secrets. It does not present a clear image to be decoded. It makes the act of looking part of the artwork itself. The longer the eye remains, the more possibilities begin to appear—and what one viewer discovers may remain completely hidden from another.
