Seeking the Moment feels intensely inward. Four large rounded forms occupy the painting like separate places of thought or emotion, while a long pale vertical form moves between them from the top of the canvas almost to its base. The composition has an unmistakable suggestion of a face, yet it never becomes a conventional portrait. Instead, it feels like the presence of someone searching within themselves—waiting for something to become clear.
The painting is built almost entirely from shades of blue: deep navy and indigo, softer slate and muted blue, brighter turquoise-blue, and pale blue-white. Violet and blue-violet deepen the shadowed areas, while subtle touches of pink and lavender appear near the bottom. The lighter blues seem to surface from within the darker forms, creating quiet flashes of illumination rather than strong contrast.
There is a powerful stillness here. The repeated curved forms seem to turn inward, while the central vertical movement holds the composition together. The eye keeps returning to those darker enclosed spaces, as though each contains something being considered, remembered, or searched for.
