The Other Side feels like looking through a surface that has partially dissolved, revealing fragments of a world that exists beyond it. The painting seems to have formed through interaction—pigment spreading, separating, pooling, resisting, and leaving behind unexpected boundaries. There is no single path through the composition. Instead, the eye moves among openings, interruptions, dense formations, and translucent spaces, continually encountering something that appears to exist just beyond what can be fully seen.

The palette moves through deep forest green, emerald, dark olive, ochre, amber, blush, muted mauve, deep plum, and deep purple, with charcoal and near-black creating the darkest passages. Silvery gray and pale warm light break through the denser areas, particularly in the luminous form near the upper center. Some pigments remain translucent while others gather into heavier, almost opaque formations, allowing color to appear buried beneath other layers rather than simply placed beside them.

The physical behavior of the materials is an essential part of the painting. Irregular edges spread into neighboring colors; rivulets descend through the composition; circular openings and small crater-like marks puncture larger forms; granular and mottled areas create surfaces that seem weathered, eroded, or still in the process of becoming. Nothing feels completely fixed. The painting seems caught somewhere between formation and dissolution.

Within these shifting territories, forms begin to suggest themselves without becoming fully identifiable. Dense dark passages stand against softer fields; openings expose what appears to be another layer underneath; isolated shapes seem momentarily familiar before losing their definition. The painting continually brings the viewer close to recognition and then withdraws it.

That is where the title becomes especially powerful. The Other Side creates the sensation that what we can see is only one surface of something much larger. There appears to be another space behind it, beneath it, or perhaps within it—but the painting never tells us how to reach it. Even the viewer's position becomes uncertain: are we looking toward The Other Side, or have we already crossed into it and are now looking back?
